Slab Leak Water Damage in San Antonio — Dried, Documented, Rebuilt
A plumber fixes the line. After that, somebody still has to dry the structure, prove the damage to your carrier, and put the flooring, drywall and cabinets back. That is the half we do, under one contract.
We Map the Whole Wet Area
Slab water travels along the bottom of walls and under flooring, so the scope comes from moisture readings room by room. It usually reaches further than the stain does.
Documented Before Demo
Photographs and readings on the record first, because a slab leak claim is won or lost on whether the damage was documented before anyone opened a wall.
Xactimate In-House
Our scope is written in the same platform your adjuster uses, so the line items match rather than being argued in two different languages.
Flooring, Drywall, Cabinets
The same licensed GC that dries it puts it back — tile, plank, subfloor, baseboard, cabinets and paint.
The pipe is fixed. The house is still wet.
Most slab leak stories end with a plumber, a repaired line and a homeowner standing in a room with the flooring cut open and no idea who handles the rest. The rest is the expensive part: structural drying that actually reaches the subfloor, a moisture map that tells you how far the water went, documentation your carrier will accept, and a rebuild of flooring, drywall, cabinets and paint. We are a licensed general contractor that does both restoration and remodeling, so all of that is one contract with one accountable contact. Slab leaks are part of the wider water, fire and storm restoration work we do across the metro.

Why San Antonio homes get slab leaks
Four local factors stack against us, and the fourth is the one that decides the size of the job.
Expansive clay soil moves the slab
Much of the metro sits on clay that swells when wet and shrinks hard in drought. That movement flexes the foundation and the rigid copper lines underneath it until a joint or a worn spot gives. The drought and heavy-rain swings we get here are exactly the cycle that does it.
Hard water works on the pipe from inside
San Antonio water is some of the hardest in Texas. Mineral buildup corrodes copper from the inside while the soil works on it from the outside, which is why slab leaks are so common in certain neighborhoods here.
Slab-on-grade houses with 30-to-50-year-old copper
Whole neighborhoods went up from the seventies through the nineties with soft copper run under the slab. Those lines are now decades old. If your house is that age and has never been re-piped, you are in the group this happens to.
The damage shows up away from the leak
Water under a slab follows the path of least resistance, so the first symptom is often buckled flooring, a damp baseboard or a musty closet in a room nowhere near the failed line. Chasing the symptom instead of mapping the moisture is how half a loss gets repaired and the other half gets rebuilt next year.

Mapped, dried, rebuilt
Map the moisture before the scope
A meter reading in every affected room and the rooms next to them. On a recent Cibolo job the laundry wall pinned the meter at 999, the top of its scale, and the next room over still read wet at 212 with the WET indicator lit, in a room that looked and felt completely dry. Drying only the obvious room is the most expensive mistake in this whole category.
Dry the structure, including the subfloor
Extraction, air movers and dehumidifiers, walls opened low where the insulation has to come out. A wet subfloor is the dividing line between drying a room and rebuilding one, and it is why we take readings before quoting the rebuild.
Flooring, cabinets and the rest of the rebuild
Tile, plank and subfloor replacement, drywall and hand-matched texture, baseboard, paint, and cabinet bases that swelled. Remodel-grade finishes, because that is the other half of what this company does.
The plumbing repair, coordinated
The line itself is a licensed plumber's work, and we coordinate it rather than pretend otherwise. What we own is everything on the building side: the demo to reach it, the drying, the documentation, and putting the house back.
Why slab leak claims get fought
This is the water loss carriers push back on hardest. Four things worth knowing before you make the call.
Sudden and accidental versus gradual
Most Texas homeowners policies cover sudden and accidental water damage and exclude gradual damage — a slow leak that ran for months, seepage, or anything a carrier can call deferred maintenance. Slab leaks live right on that line, which is why this category gets denied more than any other kind of water loss.
The resulting damage is usually the covered part
Even when the failed pipe itself is not covered, the damage it caused to flooring, drywall and cabinets typically is. That distinction is worth understanding before you phone your carrier, because it changes what you are actually asking them to pay for.
Access to the slab is a line item
Tunneling or breaking concrete to reach the line, and the flooring that has to come up to do it, are part of the scope. They are also the items most often left out of a first estimate, and then fought over later.
Document before anybody opens anything
Once the flooring is up and the wall is open, the before condition only exists in photographs. Everything we do starts with that record, which is also what supports a supplement when demo uncovers more than the walkthrough could see.

Your insurance company has an adjuster. Now you have one on your side.
When you file a claim, your carrier sends an adjuster whose job is to close the loss for as little as the policy allows. Most homeowners face that alone — and settle for a check that never covers the real damage. Not with Raging Bull. Our in-house insurance department goes to work for you: we document every dollar of damage, write the scope in the carrier's own software, and fight to get your claim paid for what it actually takes to rebuild.
We DocuSketch every loss
A full 3D scan and measured floor plan of your property, captured before demo. Hidden and secondary damage goes on the record — and an adjuster can't shortchange what's documented.
We submit the supplements
When we open a wall and find damage no one could see from the doorway, we photograph it, add it to the scope, and file the supplement — so it's covered by your carrier, not eaten by you.
You stay our client
First walkthrough to final invoice, we work for you — not the carrier. We don't stop pushing until your home is restored and your claim reflects the full loss.
All carriers. Property managers and adjusters: we already run make-ready and water-damage repairs for one of the largest property management companies in Texas across San Antonio multifamily properties. Direct line for portfolio work: apartment make-ready & unit turns.
Two under-floor losses, written up
These are our own jobs, with the meter readings and the finished rooms.
- Cibolo — 999 on the meter, and 212 in the room that felt dry
The clearest demonstration of why moisture mapping decides the scope. Wall opened and drying equipment running the same day, then drywall, hand-matched texture, and the room put back. - Sonoma Ranch — a slow leak that reached the kitchen ceiling
No burst pipe, just cracked grout feeding water into the subfloor for months. New subfloor, real waterproofing, full rebuild — and a good example of the gradual-damage problem a slab leak runs into with a carrier.

San Antonio slab leak water damage FAQ
- Often, with a real catch. Most Texas policies cover sudden and accidental water damage and exclude gradual damage, and a slab leak can be either depending on how long it ran and what the documentation shows. The resulting damage to flooring, drywall and cabinets is typically the covered part even when the failed pipe itself is not. The practical answer is to get the loss documented properly and the scope written in the carrier's own format before the conversation starts, which is what we do. Our guide to what Texas homeowners insurance covers for water damage goes through the exclusions in plain English.
