This is a downtown San Antonio shower at the waterproofing stage, shot before any tile went on. The grey panels are wedi board. Every seam and every fastener washer is sealed, the corner bench is boarded and sealed the same way, and the pan is a bonded wedi Fundo base with an offset drain.
After tile, none of this is visible again. It is also the layer a one-day wall liner skips entirely, and the reason a shower that looks fine on handover can leak into the subfloor three years later.
