How Much Does a Kitchen Remodel Cost in San Antonio? (2026 Guide)

By Rey Trevino · Published 2026-05-16 · 8-minute read

Short answer: most San Antonio kitchen remodels run $15,000 to $40,000+ in 2026. Where you land inside that range is driven almost entirely by three decisions — do you keep the layout, what you put on the cabinets and counters, and which neighborhood the home sits in. This guide breaks all of it down by scope, by material, and by area, so you can budget before you ever pick up the phone. When you're ready for a real number on your kitchen, our kitchen remodeling San Antonio page walks through scope and the free fixed-price estimate.

San Antonio kitchen remodel cost by scope

Every kitchen is different, but after years of building them across the metro, San Antonio jobs fall into three honest tiers. These are real installed prices for 2026 — labor, materials, permits, and cleanup included — not the bare-cabinet sticker price you see at a big-box store.

  • Budget — $15,000 to $22,000. Same footprint, no walls moved. Semi-custom cabinets (Kraftmaid or Diamond), quartz or entry-level granite counters, a tile backsplash, new sink and faucet, refreshed lighting, paint, and keeping most appliances. This is the highest-ROI tier in San Antonio: the kitchen looks and functions new without the cost of structural work.
  • Mid-range — $22,000 to $32,000. Same or lightly reworked layout, better materials. Full semi-custom or partial custom cabinetry, thicker quartz with a waterfall edge option, a new appliance package, under-cabinet lighting, a larger island, and minor plumbing or electrical moves. This is where most San Antonio homeowners actually land.
  • Premium — $32,000 to $40,000+. Layout changes on the table — wall removals, an island relocation, full custom cabinetry to the ceiling, premium slab counters, panel upgrades, and high-end appliances. A full open-concept conversion with a load-bearing wall removed and a structural header runs at the top of this range and beyond.

Where the money actually goes

A kitchen budget is not one number — it is five line items stacked together. Knowing which ones you control is how you steer the total.

  • Cabinets — 40 to 50% of the job. The single biggest driver. Stock cabinets are cheapest but rarely fit San Antonio homes cleanly. Semi-custom (Kraftmaid, Diamond) gets you 80% of the custom look at 60% of the price and ships in 2–3 weeks. Full custom is 6–10 weeks and lets us build around odd walls and ceiling heights. Cabinets alone swing a budget by $8,000–$15,000.
  • Countertops. Quartz is the San Antonio workhorse — non-porous, stain-resistant, no sealing, and it handles our hard water. Entry quartz and granite start the range; exotic veined slabs, waterfall edges, and full-height backsplashes push it up by $3,000–$8,000.
  • Appliances. A keep-and-reuse approach holds the line. A mid package (range, hood, dishwasher, microwave-drawer) adds $4,000–$8,000. Pro-grade ranges and built-in refrigeration add five figures on their own.
  • Layout changes. The biggest hidden multiplier. A non-load-bearing wall comes down in a day. A load-bearing wall needs an engineered header beam, a permit, and an inspection — that's $3,500–$9,000 before a single cabinet is hung, and it is what separates a mid-range job from a premium one.
  • Electrical and plumbing. Many older San Antonio kitchens need a panel or circuit upgrade to code for modern appliances, plus GFCI and dedicated lines. Moving the sink or running gas to a new range location adds rough-in cost. Budget $2,000–$6,000 here depending on the home's age.

Kitchen remodel cost by San Antonio neighborhood

The work is the same crew and the same fixed-price method everywhere we go — but neighborhood expectations, home age, and finish level shift where most projects land inside the range.

  • Alamo Heights — premium. Older, higher-value homes and buyers who expect full custom cabinetry and slab counters. Most kitchens here land $32,000+. We handle the same scope as part of an Alamo Heights remodel.
  • Stone Oak — mid-premium. Newer construction, good bones, homeowners upgrading builder-grade kitchens to custom. Typical range $26,000–$36,000. See our Stone Oak project work for the finish level.
  • Alamo Ranch — mid. Practical open-concept upgrades, frequent wall removals, semi-custom cabinetry. Typical range $22,000–$30,000. More on Alamo Ranch projects.
  • Helotes & Leon Valley — mid-budget. Hill Country and established neighborhoods where a strong same-footprint refresh delivers the best return. Typical range $18,000–$26,000. See Helotes and Leon Valley project pages.

How to lock in a fixed price

The single biggest reason kitchen budgets blow up in San Antonio is the change order — a number that creeps every time something is "discovered" after demo. We don't work that way. After a free 30-minute in-home walkthrough, you get a fixed-price written estimate, locked before any demo starts. The price you sign is the price you pay unless you change scope. That estimate spells out cabinet grade, slab, appliance allowance, and exactly what happens to any wall. If you want the full scope and process, the kitchen remodeling San Antonio page covers it end to end, and you can compare against real bathroom builds in our Stone Oak before & after.
